Extinct Animals

Under the same sky

But in a different time

The extinct animals did the exact same things

that we are doing now

The bodies are different

But it is the same sky

indifferent to our feelings

To its cycles and cataclysms

we won't survive either

One far-off day

someone will study our bones

Trying to get to know us

To guess our feelings

They will compare themselves to us

They will study us as fossils

Appraise our attempts

Eager to find

our mortal flaw

What won't we adapt to?

Predators? Lack of food?

Climate conditions?

Or will we be replaced

by a new model?

The old life will keep living

In other bodies

it will make the same attempts

under the same unreachable sky

Downstream in the river of time
