Once upon a time in Texas

 

Once upon a time in Texas,

in a lush and green estate,

Lived a simple working cowboy, painting fence posts by the gate.

For a ranch so vast and endless, if you rode from dawn to night,

You could trot for thirty hours and the start was nowhere in sight.

So he prayed, "Almighty Lord above, please hear a cowboy's plea:

Make this endless land much smaller, or make riding fast for me!

'Cause my arms are getting tired and my horse is losing speed,

Painting miles of border posts is far more work than I need!"

God was kind and heard his prayer, sending help down from above:

Moved him to a chicken farm, a tiny plot he’d surely love.

It was small enough to walk across before the morning's done,

With better pay, a plate of food, and time to enjoy the sun.

Now the cowboy sits and grumbles at the chicken coop's awful stench,

Missing smells of cattle dung while sitting on his bench.

Guaranteed, there’s always someone, no matter what you do,

Who will find a thing to complain about, their whole life through!
