The highway's ants

The highway's ants

If you need to head to the city of vice

You’re gonna need a way to go

From way out here to over there

The highway’s the only path you know

A black tape laid across the sand

Rolled out straight through the desert land

Bridges and tunnels cut through the gray

Four wide lanes each and every way

You’re never meant to make a stay

You’re only meant to pass through

You can glance at the view along the way

But keep your eyes fixed in front of you

Cause bad things happen fast out here…

Nobody stays on the open road

Unless something breaks down in the load

Accidents wait down every mile

When speed meets wrecking-crew style!

Someday your turn is gonna come

You’ll walk where you were meant to run

Stuck on the road where you used to pass

And meet reality at last

Nobody stays on the open road

Unless something breaks down in the load

Accidents wait down every mile

When speed meets wrecking-crew style!

And on that day you’re gonna learn

The planet doesn’t care or turn

For what we think or feel or make—

The earth will choose the ant’s estate!

Those little insects down below

Will clean the gas and blood that flows

They wait so patient for the flames to die

Before they sweep the earth clean under the sky

Clean it up…

Wait for the flames to die…

The highway’s ants…
