A Thank-You Song

A Thank-you Song

This right here's a thank-you note

To everyone out there throwin' punches for what's right

'Cause we all know damned well

That without true justice, peace ain't nothin' but a graveyard's quiet night

Yeah, peace is just the peace of the dead

And even if some of us down deep

Suspect humanity's a lost cause, runnin' dry

And that this deep, dark universe don't give a damn

They just keep right on tryin', keep their spirits high

Yeah, they're doin' the work with a smile

This is a shout-out! A debt we're payin' down!

To the ones fightin' ignorance, tearin' down every lie!

To the seekers of truth who won't back down

Sharin' it out, teachin' the word, lettin' the fire fly!

This goes out to the crazy ones

The ones who don't even blink or run

When the cruel fist of injustice rears its ugly head

Or when the ocean of lies tries to drown us all instead

Yeah, this is a shout-out! A debt we're payin' down!

To the ones fightin' ignorance, tearin' down every lie!

To the seekers of truth who won't back down

Sharin' it out, teachin' the word, lettin' the fire fly!

To the restless souls who just refuse

To settle down into that comfortable groove

Where everybody looks away and plays along

Just 'cause it keeps 'em safe and keeps 'em numb

Yeah, even when it cuts 'em to the bone

Even when it hurts right down in their bones...

Even when it hurts, yeah, even when it hurts!

And they keep on fightin', keep on fightin'!

Diggin' up the dirt, keep on diggin'!

Teachin' the young, keep on teachin'!

Yeah, they keep on fightin'!

Keep on diggin'!

Keep on teachin'...
