For a nose

All births

All deaths

All murders and demises

All accidents

All events

All dreams

Everything imagined

Planned, intuited, and assumed

All for a nose

So much tragedy and so much comedy

So much madness, sanity, ignorance, and wisdom

So much hatred, friendship, love, war, peace, and truce

All sports

All beliefs

All reality

And all appearances

Art, religion, and law

The rules of etiquette

The disguises and clothes

Were to achieve it

Not by class struggle

Nor by the accumulation of capital

Nor by the uncertain progress

Nor by the advancement of knowledge

Nor by the accumulation of experience

Nor by the development of science

Not for the expansion of consciousness

Not for the maximization of comfort

Only for unstoppable evolution

Only for the taste of perfection

All the air was made for it

The entire atmosphere is for it

All for a nose

I saw it today

And to think that its entire owner

is as beautiful as it is
