DE REGRESO
Siempre es más largo
el camino de regreso
Mientras el sol se oculta
como un reptil sigiloso
en el desierto
Una fila de hormigas
pasan como forajidos
apurando el paso
Es territorio enemigo
La brisa llega con
la niebla nocturna
animando a las luciérnagas
Otro grillo se une al coro
y la noche se hace
más oscura mientras
la niebla trata de ahogar
la bombilla del pórtico
que poco a poco
me da la bienvenida
THE WAY BACK
The way back
is always longer
As the sun slips away
like a stealthy reptile
into the desert
A line of ants
pass by like outlaws
hurrying their pace
It is enemy territory
The breeze arrives with
the night mist
stirring the fireflies
Another cricket joins the chorus
and the night grows
darker while
the mist tries to drown
the porch light
that little by little
welcomes me home
